{"id":1077,"date":"2002-11-12T22:17:13","date_gmt":"2002-11-12T22:17:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/houseofnehesipublish.com\/sxm\/?p=1077"},"modified":"2015-05-12T22:17:31","modified_gmt":"2015-05-12T22:17:31","slug":"carlyle-barriteau-in-a-silver-moods-night-of-sophisticated-jazz-at-maho-resorts-theater-royale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/houseofnehesipublish.com\/sxm\/2002\/11\/12\/carlyle-barriteau-in-a-silver-moods-night-of-sophisticated-jazz-at-maho-resorts-theater-royale\/","title":{"rendered":"Carlyle Barriteau in a \u201cSilver Moods\u201d night of sophisticated jazz at Maho Resort\u2019s Theater Royale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>GREAT BAY,\u00a0St. Martin (November 12, 2002)\u2014<\/strong> Jazz recording artist\u00a0Carlyle Barriteau\u00a0is one of the visiting stars billed to perform at \u201cSilver Moods \u2013 Anastacia Larmonie\u2019s 25<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary Concert\u201d on November 30, 2002, at Maho Resort\u2019s Theater Royale.<\/p>\n<p>The concert promises a sophisticated night of a cool interplay of classic and contemporary Jazz, R&amp;B, Kaiso, Latin and African sounds, and Barriteau\u2019s original music will add significantly to what should be an entertainment high note of 2002.<\/p>\n<p>arriteau charmed audiences to no end over a year ago with his fresh musical mastery at Norman Wathey\u2019s alley jazz sessions at Kangaroo Court, and his debut CD\u00a0<em>Native Sun <\/em>(2000) marked him as one to surely watch.<\/p>\n<p>he St. Martin native son is a guitarist and vocalist who has appeared on VH-1, played with such notables as Patti Austin, Thelma Houston and The Miracles, and worked with Donnie Osmond. The graduate of Musician\u2019s Institute and Berklee College of Music is also music producer. Barriteau resides at Stateside, where he performs in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. His second CD is planned for a 2003 release.\u00a0Barriteau\u00a0will share the concert stage with leading and exciting artists, including former students of\u00a0Anastacia\u00a0Larmonie such as LaVaune Henry and Michael Parris; Anbojoli Jazz Ensemble; musicians Tony Thewett, Mighty Dow and Neville York; Hubert \u201cOily\u201d Busby is expected to fly in from Aruba; Dave \u201cRonchi\u201d Matthew and\u00a0Rudy Emerenciana\u00a0from Cura\u00e7ao; and baseman Winston Maccow visiting from the USA and percussionist Ernesto Arrendell flying in from the Netherlands. Zoumana Diarra is scheduled to leave his base in the Netherlands to play that unique West African instrument called the cora\u2014probably the first time that the 32-string instrument will be heard and seen in a public performance in St. Martin.\u00a0The 25<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary concert will also host a reconstituted Lollipops and Anbojolettes (Anastacia is asking former members of those former children groups to contact her at\u00a0548.4809). New choral groups like Qualichi Voices and A.L.
