US writers list 2 books published in St. Martin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>GREAT BAY, ST.\u00a0MARTIN\u00a0<\/strong>(Sept. 2, 2004) \u2014 People who would like to start writing their own poems, writing better poems, or reading new examples\u00a0of great poetry, may not have to look or travel very far.<\/p>\n<p>Two of the \u201cTop 7\u00a0Books\u201d to start your poetry education were published in St. Martin, say American authors Bob Holman and Margery Snyder.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The new poetry guide by Holman and Snyder is featured on the US website poetry.about.com and picks the \u201cTop 7\u00a0Books to begin your Poeducation now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Listed at number three and four of the guide are\u00a0<em>Somebody Blew Up America &amp; Other Poems <\/em>(2003) by Amiri Baraka and<em>Words Need Love Too<\/em> (2000) by Kamau Brathwaite<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/65.54.246.250\/cgi-bin\/linkrd?_lang=EN&amp;lah=ad90fd032cc5ce38bf7315b548ca037b&amp;lat=1094192857&amp;hm___action=http%3a%2f%2fpoetry%2eabout%2ecom%2fod%2fpoetrybooks%2ftp%2fpoeducation%2ehtm\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/poetry.about.com\/od\/poetrybooks\/tp\/poeducation.htm<\/a> .<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRead these writers, and you\u2019ll have waltzed with some exciting partners and staked a great view of the American poetic landscape,\u201d state Holman and Margery Snyder about their pick of seven.<\/p>\n<p>House of Nehesi Publishers published both books by the widely acclaimed Brathwaite and Baraka in St. Martin. The two collections can be found at Van Dorp, Arnia\u2019s Bookstore and at other island bookstores and libraries.\u00a0\u201cBaraka and Brathwaite have been writing great poetry for a long time. This is what poetry.about.com wants to share withithe customers and Internet visitors,\u201d says Lasana M. Sekou, House of Nehesi\u2019s projects director.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe did the same thing by bringing those critical and quality works home to St. Martin. And by using those books as they wish our people play a part in reinforcing dynamic literature in our Caribbean.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe listing by this lively poetry news and feature website takes these two books and the words of their authors beyond our region. It links St. Martin\u2019s literary activity with like \u2018livity\u2019 in other parts of the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But it is not only literature that travels with these two House of Nehesi titles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very glad about the attention that these choice volumes are getting and at the same time showcasing our nation\u2019s artists.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe design of both books are enhanced by the charcoal drawing of Joe Dominique and the cutting edge digital art of Angelo Rombley,\u201d noted Sekou.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second time in 10 months that Baraka\u2019s\u00a0<em>Somebody Blew Up America &amp; Other Poems <\/em>received top listing on a US bookseller and literature website.<\/p>\n<p><em>How We Sleep on the Nights We Don\u2019t Make Love<\/em> (2004) by the Washington, DC-based writer E.
