GREAT BAY,\u00a0St. Martin<\/strong> (May 29, 2018)\u2014Fantasies \u2013 Love-making poems<\/em> by Fabian Adekunle Badejo has just been published here by House of Nehesi Publishers (HNP), said the indie press president Jacqueline Sample.<\/p>\n

The newest book by Badejo, a well-known St. Martin writer, is \u201cA grown-up literary confection that does what verse written by men seems to seldom do these days,\u201d said author and journalist Sharon Leach of the Jamaica Observer<\/em> newspaper.<\/p>\n

Fantasies<\/em> will be launched at the opening ceremony of the 16th annual St. Martin Book Fair, Friday, June 1, 2018, 8 PM, at Motorworld Showroom, Cole Bay, said Sample. The book fair admission is free and all are welcome, said director Shujah Reiph.<\/p>\n

Badejo will read selections from the adult-theme collection following the literary festival\u2019s keynote address by award-winning author Edwidge Danticat (USA\/Haiti).<\/p>\n

\u201cEdwidge Danticat is one of the most sought-after authors in the world today,\u201d said HNP projects director Lasana M. Sekou, \u201cand it\u2019s an honor to launch an HNP title during her first visit to the St. Martin Book Fair.\u201d<\/p>\n

The poems in Fantasies<\/em> \u201ccelebrate male strength by exploring in all its big-hearted glory, \u2026 its vulnerability, honesty \u2026 and, yes, avid beauty,\u201d said Leach.<\/p>\n

Aruban poet Rosabelle Illes calls Fantasies \u201cA sensual oddessy. Badejo communicates\u00a0with the intensity only found in\u00a0infatuation\u00a0and\u00a0a truth\u00a0only discovered\u00a0through relentless devotion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Badejo was the subject of a revealing May 20 interview on his own Culture Time radio magazine, by USM literature lecturer Dr. Rhoda Arrindell. The Fantasies<\/em> manuscript was accepted by HNP and worked on by candlelight and in-between repairs and other challenges like most of St. Martin people had during the aftermath of Hurricane Irma \u2014 but the poems were written much earlier, said Badejo.<\/p>\n

Following the interview, \u201ca Facebook buzz started, with comments by men and women ranging from curious to excited about Fantasies<\/em>,\u201d said Sample.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome people are surprised that a usually serious-topic author like Mr. Badejo would write erotic poems with names like \u2018Strip,\u2019 \u2018The First Kiss,\u2019 \u2018Beauty & the Priest,\u2019 \u2018Lick Me,\u2019 \u2018Mating Sounds,\u2019 \u2018Girl Talk,\u2019 and \u2018Bragging Rights,\u2019\u201d said Sample.<\/p>\n
