Justice In Writing – A Constitutional Perspective
Justice in constitutional and political text in non-independent Caribbean
territories: The case of Puerto Rico. Presentation by the president
of the Committee of Puerto Rico at the United Nations (working on the
decolonization of Puerto Rico before the United Nations Committee on
Decolonization). Attorney Wilma Reverón-Collazo has made presentations
before the United Nations Decolonization Committee and special tribunals
on issues of Human Rights. This workshop could have immense benefit
for political leaders, legal minds, and the general public relative
to the current constitutional and political status discussions and developments
on both parts of St. Martin in relation to the Netherlands and France.

XV – RasTafari as Image & Voice of Justice in Caribbean
Literature, Rm 102
A brief overview of the appearance and continuing presence of RasTafarian
ideas/images in Caribbean scribal literature—some of the prose,
poetry and plays which have emerged in the Caribbean from the mid-twentieth
century to now. The workshop will give an indication of the multi-faceted
nature of the representation of RasTafari in this literature and its
ongoing relation to the struggle for a just society. The voluminous
oral literature embodied in the lyrics of the musical tradition (from
ska to dancehall and in calypso) would also be acknowledged.
