GREAT BAY (March 5, 2000) — New York City is at the cutting edge of the world’s capitals of culture chic, and the Jacob Javits Convention Center is one of that city’s premier business, tourism, and culture trade exhibition forums. Now the paintings of Ras Mosera, a leading St. Martin artist, will debut in the USA at the Javits center on March 9, 2000.

Mosera left here on March 5 to take part in the Art Expo New York, which will run until March 13. The artist will enter about 12 paintings in the expo. Selections from his muse series are sure to charm trade and public viewers with their Caribbean elegance. But in a city that typifies the word novel, Mosera’s currency will probably be the garish ingenuity of “Placebo” and its ally pieces like “Card Players.”

Mosera made contact for the high-powered expo through Art Business News magazine over the Internet! The contact was apparently impressed enough with Mosera’s works to view his status in the exhibit as an “international situation.”
The connection and the considerable registration fee “was worth the major investment,” says Mosera.

“I want this to be an informative exhibit. It will be an ice-breaking opportunity to meet art dealers, artists, and galleries.”
According to the organizers, Art Expo New York 2000 “showcases paintings, original graphics, sculptures, limited editions, photography and functional art by over 600 exhibitors. Art Expo brings together galleries, publishers, individual artists and providers of industry resources for the world’s most comprehensive show.”

Mosera is no stranger to international exhibits but the stateside debut will surely enhance his experience. It will also tune up knowledge of his work and of the island where his inspiration has been leaping and bounding to extraordinary creative “ites” since the 1980s. Mosera has exhibited and sold paintings in St. Lucia, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, The Netherlands, and Sweden. In 1997 he exhibited in Curacao, and is preparing for shows in Aruba, Puerto Rico and Venezuela this year.
