GREAT BAY/MARIGOT, St. Martin (Dec. 27, 2002)— St. Martin’s senior news broadcaster Eddie Williams will rap up the year’s major news events of and related to St. Martin on Saturday and Sunday on Radio St. Martin (101.5 FM) and Radio Sualouiga (99.9 FM) as guest of the popular culture magazine Conscious Lyrics.
The year in review will be aired at 5 pm on Saturday, December 28 on Radio St. Martin (101.5 FM) and at 12:30 noon on Sunday, December 29 on Radio Sualouiga (99.9 FM).
Williams, who will be celebrating his 20th anniversary here in radio news and feature programming, will identify, analyze and discuss the topical issues, events and personalities of 2002 with the show’s host, Shujah Reiph, himself celebrating 10 years at the helm of Conscious Lyrics this year.
Reiph said that the dominance of crime in the news in 2002, will be one of the main issues discussed with the objective of “using the media to mobilize consciousness so that people would not have to feel helpless in the face of crime, but to be in a better position as individuals and as a community to help combat the growth of crime.”
The approach of Conscious Lyrics, “in line with our national St. Martin identity and tradition of unity, means that we are looking at St. Martin as a whole and major events from both the North and the South will be reviewed,” added Reiph.
